Last night Ben Eubanks, Allen Robinson and I arrived in Chicago, IL for HRevolution after a 9 hour trip. Up at 3:30 AM we jumped into the car (more like plopped) and began our trek. Luckily I was able to catch up on sleep from the previous day when I drove from Tallahassee, FL to Hartselle, AL.
Once we finally got acclimated to our swank room at theWit – Chicago we decided to venture out to the city to view the sights. A short walk from the hotel, we made our way into Millennium Park to check out Cloud Gate (aka The Bean). It is an amazing sculpture that mystifies all who see it.
From the Cloud Gate we walked down Lakeshore Drive along Lake Michigan avoiding gaggles of geese and enjoying the incredible weather and some interesting art installations. What a truly amazing sight.
Next up we stumbled upon Grant Park and the Buckingham Fountain (aka the fountain from the opening sequence of “Married with Children”). In addition to being accosted by a few bums and dodging excrement from seagulls and pigeons we relaxed for a bit and took in the awesomeness of this beautiful park.
Shortly thereafter we made our way back to theWit. This trek was not without excitement as we watched as a gang of segways emerged from an ally and zoomed down the sidewalk without cause. As we arrived we met up with some old friends and chatted about the Monster Social later that night.
The PRE Big Event
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s tweetup time. At 7:00 PM we all converged into the Churchill Ballroom where we were bombarded with some fun swag from Monster, the tweetup’s sponsor. Big thanks to Eric Winegardner from Monster for his support. It was an awesome opportunity to catch up with old friends and see how things have changed since the last HRevolution back in the fall of 2009. (Amanda Hite, Shauna Moerke, April Dowling, Jessica Miller-Merrell, Crystal Peterson, Laurie Ruettimann, Trish McFarlane, Steve Boese, Mark Stelzner, Launce Haun, Lisa Rosendahl, et al.)
In addition to the catching up, the tweetup was a great opportunity to meet some new friends that I follow and converse with through social media or the telephone. The ability to finally meet these individuals in person is a key part of the social media movement. Some of these chats I will share in later posts. For now, a quick shout out to some new friends: Ben McCall, Jason Seiden, Deirdre Honner, Paul Smith, Ruth Estwick, Victorio Milan, Leanna Pelham, et al.

Great images Steve. I wish I could have gotten to the Chi early so I could have done some more walking around without a deadline.
Great to finally meet you and look forward to the upcoming posts!
